A multi-talented artist, citizen of the world, Luis Oliva is a man of ideas and heart. The Guatemalan-born actor, director and singer-songwriter multiplies modes of expression.
After his roles in several drama series, including Tag and Providence, as well as American productions such as The Cutting Edge 3, The Christmas Choir, The Factory and others, in 2010 in collaboration with Steve Cordeau, he released his first album Monde on the Entourage Musique label.
In 2011, Luis Oliva took the opportunity to discover exceptional people, by taking the helm of the animation of the documentary series Amérikologie, during 3 seasons on TV5.
Armed with this incredible human experience and the documentary experience he gained from Amérikologie, the animator wanted to explore another form of expression, directing, and began studying documentary filmmaking at L’inis in 2013. There he directed, among others, the short documentary Chevette 83, which had a successful run at international festivals, including Hot Docs.
Luis then started working on his first documentary for television: Les Pêcheurs de l’Anse (CanalD -2015). A candid portrait of lobster fishermen, men and women, in L’Anse à Beau-fils, in the Gaspé Peninsula.
Then, from 2015 to 2017, he obtained the position of in-house director at Pimiento. There he directed two seasons of Mise à Nu (Canal Vie), Le Polygraphe (Historia), A.P-Agents de Protection (Canal D), and was Lead Director on the documentary series Opération Narcos (Addiktv), Enquêteurs (Addiktv) and Situation d’urgence 2 (Canal D).
In 2016 he composed the soundtrack for the documentary The Migrant Mix Tape by Éli Jean Tachi and in 2019 was also the composer of the web series Soupir, by the same director.
Since then, Luis has dedicated himself to developing different personal projects, both in the direction/creation of documentary, fiction, and music projects, while keeping the door wide open to his first profession, that of actor.
